Proxy Detection

Proxy detection is a technical method used to identify whether network requests are sent through a proxy server (such as HTTP proxies, SOCKS proxies, etc.) rather than directly from a user’s device. Its core purpose is to determine the real source of traffic, and it is often used for security verification, access control, or compliance checks.

Common identifiable proxy types include: HTTP proxies, HTTPS proxies, SOCKS4/SOCKS5 proxies, transparent proxies, anonymous proxies, and high-anonymity proxies. Some tools can also detect services disguised as proxies, such as VPNs or Tor nodes.

It is mainly achieved by analyzing the characteristics of network data packets. For example: checking for proxy identification fields in request headers such as Via and X-Forwarded-For; comparing the geographical location of the IP address with the actual access behavior; detecting whether TCP fingerprints, DNS resolution paths, etc., match the characteristics of proxy servers.

To use a proxy detection tool, simply enter the IP address and port of the proxy server in the designated area and click the Detect button. The tool will then evaluate the proxy server and display relevant detailed information.

It is mainly used to maintain network security and regulatory compliance. For example: preventing malicious users from hiding their real IPs through proxies to launch attacks, inflate traffic, or commit fraud; restricting proxy access from specific regions to comply with geographical copyright rules; ensuring platform data security and avoiding risks posed by anonymous proxies.
